Great book for any pet lover, and also for for those dealing with grief and those interested in spirituality. I only recently came to know about Strongheart, a German Shepherd who starred in silent films, as one of only 3 animals with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The man who took care of him raises such important questions about mortality and love. The format of the book--letters to the dog who died as a result of an on-set accident--makes the book very poignant. If you are a spiritual person, you will love this book. Very movingProduct details

Loved it but it is not quite as polished as Kinship With All Life -- a classic -- also by the author. But it is a wonderful read.
When I lost my Rottie years ago, I ran into a guy in the dog park (with my German Shepherd) and he suggested the book. It's an old book, and tough to get, but it is excellent. It gives you a respect for dogs, and how they live life. The author was obviously having a tough time dealing with the loss of Strongheart, but he tells very inspiring stories about life, and living freely, something we could all learn from dogs.
I finally read it as my Shepherd was going through a terminal disease and it helped me greatly.
I didn't get as much from this one but love all his books!LOVE OF ANIMALS, RESPECT OF LIFE
Amazing stories with animals and showing how EVERYTHING has a presence, a spirit--and we CAN communicate.
I WISH THESE WERE REQUIRED READING IN SCHOOL.
KIDS WOULD LEARN EARLY ON TO RESPECT LIFE.
Classic works I will re-read many times. As an adult!
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about themselves by observing the animals around us. It certainly makes you question, who is the higher form of intelligence!
It's true animals communicate through pictures, mind to mind. Nicely written. My cat told me how to heal his worm infestation, the vet was amazed, and said what you did is hard to do. Sparkey Boy and I disagree. 🐾
If you are a dog lover with a special connection with a dog, you will enjoy this book. It is unusual and a little spiritual and I enjoyed it immensely. I ordered this after I read Boone's other book about Strongheart. He was an amazing creature.
As in J Allen Boone's first book, Kinship With All Life, Letters to Strongheart reveals the keen insight Boone has toward his old dog friend who has gone to the Great Yonder. Strongheart possessed such an abundance of childlike qualities that shone through himself in the movies he starred in, and those qualities transcended the dog's journey into the hereafter. As Boone says in the final chapter, the Great Universal Creator will speak from the heart of every living entity, connected by the golden thread of Divinity that holds us together in the animated tapestry of life. Boone's letters to Strongheart as he takes a trip around the world celebrate the oneness that connects the human existence and the animal's unselfish goodness and consciousness. You will look at your dog with new eyes after reading this!
